Freedom Leisure, which operates the centre on behalf of Wealden District Council, will be continuing a successful partnership with In-Clued and Active Play to deliver the sessions.

They will take place on February 28, March 13 and April 10, from 12.30 until 2.30pm with the first session free to attend.

Further sessions will be held on May 22, June 19, July 17 and August 21.

The activities will be open to anyone with a physical or learning disability who is aged up to 25.

Range of activities

The sessions will run for two hours and participants and their families will be able to enjoy a wide range of activities including arts and crafts, soft play, Boccia, New Age Kurling, New Age Bowls, basketball, badminton and football.

Qualified coaches will also be on hand to deliver trampolining sessions until April. There will also be a bouncy castle.

In-Clued is a community group created by parents of children and young people with physical and learning disabilities, for other parents who find themselves facing similar challenges.

New friendships

The sessions began after Freedom Leisure received funding from Active Sussex and ‘A Life More Ordinary’ a SPARK-funded project designed to give young disabled people the chance to enjoy fun activities, make new friendships and lead ‘a life more ordinary’.

Freedom Leisure community sports development officer Natasha Brown said: “We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with In-Clued to run these sessions.

At Freedom Leisure we believe it’s important for everyone to have the opportunity to keep active and have fun. We hope that these sessions will enable young people with disabilities to do just that.”

The sessions will cost £3 per family and will be run on a first come, first served basis, with the first session free of charge. Parents and carers will need to stay on site during the session and children under eight will need to be accompanied at all times.
